I'M GOING TO ISTANBUL TOMORROW!! AHHH. SO. UNBELIEVABLY. EXCITED.
Since I don't have anything exciting to post about that's more exciting than that, I'll just share some pictures that I've been accumulating.
This is what the train station looks like at 7:45 every morning.. although the colors of the sunrise are actually much more vivid. I guess Instagram can't always be perfect.
Ever wondered what a "traditional Danish dish" looks like? This is about as traditional as it gets, apparently.. potatoes, beets, meatballs, and lots of sauce. See why I prefer to talk about pastries instead?
Fun fact: there is a 5:1 pigs to person ratio in Denmark. 25 million pigs and 5 million people inhabit this beautiful country.. which may also explain why we eat so much pork.
This is probably the most photographed sight in Copenhagen.. the little mermaid! It was quite a journey to find her, but it was nice to finally meet her in person.
I'm not going to lie, this has been the best pastry I've had so far. I had to go off the beaten track to find it..
... and I found it here! St. Peders Bakery, the oldest bakery in Copenhagen! It's been in this same spot since 1652! The Danes were perfecting their pastries for over 120 years before the US even became a country!
I think this picture is a bit misleading.. it snow flurried on Monday, but the very next day it was 57 degrees (fahrenheit, clearly) and sunny!! Spring is totes upon us.
Also, shoutout to Lauren, another DIS blogger, for not only putting together a fantastic video chronicling our pastry cooking class, but for also bearing with me as I whipped our cream into butter.. twice.
I think I'm bringing my computer to Istanbul.. I haven't decided yet. If I don't, then I'll see y'all in a week!
